BAY OF BENGAL

-> Mainlands – INDIA and Sri Lanka
-> To its east is Andaman and Nicobar and Sovereign Nation of Mayanmar.
->Southern-most imaginary line is between Sri Lanka and Sumatra’s Northern-most point

-> Separates – Sri Lanka’s Jaffna District and Tamil Nadu
-> River – Vaigai
-> Width – 53 to 82 kms

Palk Bay

-> Semi enclosed shallow water body 
-> Maximum depth – 13m
-> It is one of the major Sinks for sediments along with Gulf of Mannar
-> It has the world famous Rama Setu or Rama Bridge or Adam’s Bridge

Andaman Sea

-> Eastern-most of Indian Sea
-> Archipelago of Andaman and Nicobar separates if from Bay of Bengal
-> It washes the shore of Thiland, Mayanmar and Malay Peninsula
-> It is south till Breueh Island
-> Main source of Income – Fish Industry,Coral Reef and Tourism
-> Surface Area – 600,000 sq.kms
->Maximum Depth – 4198 m
-> Andaman and Nicobar Islands are separated by 10 degree Channel
-> Barren Island is the only active volcano

Lakshadweep Sea

-> or Laccadive Sea
-> It borders India, the Maldives and Sri Lanka
-> Warm water supports great Marine Biodiversity
-> Kanyakumari, Southern-most point of Tamil Nadu also Borders it.
-> Average depth – 1929m
-> Maximum Depth – 4131m

Arabian Sea

-> It is a region of North Indian Ocean
-> North it is bounded by – Pakistan and Iran
-> West it is bounded by – Gulf of Aden, Guardafui Channel and Arabian Peninsula
-> South-east is bounded by – Laccadive Sea
-> South-west is bounded by – Somali Sea
-> East is bounded by – India
-> Major ports – Kandla, Okha, Mumabi, Nhava Sheva(New Mumbai), Mormugao(Goa), New Mangalore and Kochi port [India]
– Port of Karachi, Post Qasim and Gwadar Port [Pakistan]

Gulf of Mannar

-> It is a part of Laccadive Sea
-> Lies between – West coast of Sri Lanka and Southern-most tip of India in the Coromandel Coast region
-> Rama Setu or Adma’s Bridge separates Gulf of Mannar and Palk Strait
-> Rivers – Vaipar river(India) and Malvathu Oya / Malvathu River (Sri Lanka)
-> The Dugong (Sea Cow) is found in this region
-> Major ports – Colombo (Sri Lanka) and Thoothkudi /Tuticorin (Tamil Nadu)
-> Surface Area – 10,500 sq.kms
-> Maximum Depth – 4,380 feet
-> Asia’s 1st Oceanic Biodiversity Protection and Biosphere Reserve

Gulf of Kutch

-> It is an inlet of Arabian Sea along the west coast of India
-> State – Gujarat 
-> Divides the state’s Kathiawar and Kutch Peninsulas
-> It is also referred as Periplus of the Erythraean Sea or also called as Gulf of Baraca
-> River – Rukmavati River 
-> Gulf of Kutch is located North of the gulf
-> 1st coral garden will be set up near Mithapur in Gulf of Kutch

Depth maximum – 402 feet
-> Ports – Kandla, Mundra, Okha and Salaya

Gulf of Khambat

-> Also known as Gulf of Cambay
-> It is an extension of Arabian Sea
-> It separates Gujarat’s Kathaiwar Peninsula from South-eastern part of the State
-> Major Rivers – Narmada, Tapi, Mahi and Sabarmati
-> Plan of building a dam of 30kms , Kalpasar Project across the gulf
