Important Lecturette topics for SSB

Lecturettes are a short session where a candidate gets an opportunity to express themselves in the group. They are an integral part of the 5 days Service Selection Board process. Candidates have to choose a topic from the list given, and speak on it for some time. Some advises for the Lecturette in SSB/AFSB are:

  • Listen to GTO’s briefing carefully regarding lecturette.
  • Avoid negative body language and lousiness. Avoid hand movements.
  • Avoid below average topic, unless you can make that topic very interesting. Also avoid any topic that is too technical as you might run out of facts.
  • Prepare the topic in a logical and organised manner.
  • Start with the history or background, talk about the present, and conclude with the futuristic or visionary outlook.
  • Stand in CASUAL wishram position throughout the lecturette and display a pleasant bearing.
  • Avoid criticizing Govt policies/ decisions. However, you can criticize implementation part of it if you, so feel.
  • After the first bell, start concluding your lecturette. Speak about 12 to 13 sentences, say thanks and take your seat. When others are speaking, listen to them.
