Introduction.

National Disaster Response Force was constituted for sustainable responsible against threatening disasters under the National Disaster Management Act (NDMA) in 2005, which is the apex body.

Important works

  • NDRF has been fulfilling its responsibilities through rigorous training
  • Since its formation, NDRF has saved 1.44 lakhs of precious human lives and 8 lacks stranded people from disasters both within the country and abroad.
  • The Swift & effective response of NDRF during Japan’s triple disaster (2011) and Nepal’s earthquake (2015) was acclaimed globally.
  • Also recently it rescued people from a disaster in the Konkan area of Maharashtra which was flooded.

The motto of NDRF is – आपदा सेवा सदैव सर्वत्र (AAPDA SEVA SADAIVA SARVATRA) which means sustained disaster response service under every circumstance.

There are 12 battalions in NDRF and around 1149 personnel each.

The academy is situated in Nagpur, started by the home ministry.

The Director General of NDRF is Atul Karwal, IPS.

Apart from the response, NDRF also conducts capacity-building programs.

Also, it raises awareness among the teachers and students and demonstrates how to secure themselves during earthquakes.

Recently NDRF celebrated its 18th raising day on 19th Jan 2023.

Conclusion.

The military is efficient and they are prepared for some purpose disaster response took some forces to rescue people, so a special organization NDRF was formed to tackle the response to disaster and rescue animals and people. Also, women personnel were added for rescuing pregnant ladies.
