Odisha Government on 23 February 2016 launched a pilot project on Computerised Fair Price Shop (FPS) Automation system. The system was launched with an aim to monitor the distribution of essential commodities under the Public Distribution System (PDS).
Initially, the project was launched in Dhauli gram panchayat on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar and it will be implemented across the State by March 2017.
It will also help in checking the loopholes in the distribution, every transaction of commodities among the beneficiaries will be recorded in a mechanized system.
Computerised Fair Price Shop Automation system will help to eliminate any irregularities by the distributors and track all transactions sitting at one place.
On the success of the pilot project, the technical device, thumb machine, will be installed at all 20000 public distribution centres across the State. It will give authentic report on proper distribution of rice, wheat and kerosene.
