Recently, Reorganisation of the state of Jammu and Kashmir was done and it’s special status has been revoked.
Basically Articles 370 & 35A of the constitution of India were revoked.
It has been divided into two UTs.
The first one is Ladakh consisting of leh and Kargil district.
The second one is Jammu and Kashmir consisting of the remaining region including the region of Pakistan occupied Kashmir(POK).
The bill was bought on 5 August 2019 in the lok sabha by MHA Amit Shah and was assented by Hon. President Shri Ram Nath Kovind ji on 9 August 2019. With in effect from 31 October 2019.

J&k – 5 seats (Baramulla, Srinagar, Anantnag, Udhampur, Jammu)
Ladakh- 1 seat (ladakh)
There will be a legislative assembly of the new UT of J&K having 107 seats increasing to 114 later. In which 24 will be from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (POK). In this assembly LG can nominate 2 members to give representation to women.
The governor of J&K will be the LG of both the UTs. And the Members of council for J&K are:-

- Laway shri Nazir Ahmed
- Manhas Shri Shamsher Singh
- Ghulam Nabi Azad
High court of J&K will be the High court of both the UTs.
UT of J&K will have same status and laws like that of Puducherry under Article 239A.
Many of the previous acts and provisions will stay as it is and many of them are repealed according to the data given in the Gazette notification by the government of India.
