WHAT  IS  SUSTAINABLE  DEVELOPMENT?

It  is  an  idea  that gives  emphasis  on  development  of  human  beings/societies  to  meet  their  needs  while  preserving  the  capacity  of  natural  system  that  provides  natural  resources  and  ecosystem  on  which  economy  and  society  depends,  for  upcoming  generations

UNITED  NATIONS  SUBSTAINABLE  DEVELOPMENT  GOALS (SDGs)

These are  interlinked/integrated goals for achieving sustainable life by eliminating poverty, protecting planet from pollution and ensuring peaceful and prosperous life for everyone. 

Sustainable development goals also known as global goals were adopted by united nations in 2015 in its general assembly in New York (headquarters of UN) as a roadmap for achieving sustainable future for all. These goals are intended to be achieved by 2030 i.e. also known as Agenda 2030

To achieve the agenda by 2030 17 goals were made with 169 targets and 304 indicators

there is no legal binding on member nations to implement them

AIM

17 SDG’ are launched with aim to end poverty & hunger, fight discrimination against women & girls, eliminate inequality, tackle climate change  while ensuring no one is left behind

It is an UN initiative  to motivate  member countries  for  achieving SDGs (not an official monitoring tool), it includes  SDG  index  and  dashboard. it shows performance of countries against the SDGs.
